Apple Releases Safari Update

Apple has released an updated Safari 3.1.1. According to Apple’s notes: This update is recommended for all Safari users and includes improvements to stability, compatibility and security.

Run software updater or go direct to get your copy of Safari 3.1.1 for Windows and Mac versions.

Apple Releases Several Firmware Updates

Apple has released several firmware updates for Intel-based Macs, a restore image to recover if the update trashes your computer, and firmware fixes for Apple’s keyboard. I applied sveral of these on multiple machines without issues. Just fire up your software update app or you can download them directly.

Apple Releases Keynote Update

Apple has released update to the Keynote presentation application (part of iWork ‘08) via software update. The version 4.0.3 update’s notes, says that it “addresses performance and stability issues when working with large documents.”

Apple Updates QuickTime, iTunes, and Front Row

Apple has released updates to QuickTime 7.4.5, iTunes 7.6.2, and Front Row 2.1.3, offering several performance enhancements, as well as a patch for a security hole found in QuickTime. Start up Software Updater or you can download them through these links.

Aperture 2.1 Update Arrives with Plug-ins

Apple has released Aperture 2.1 introducing an open plug-in architecture that makes it easy to use specialized third party imaging software right from within Aperture. Available via software update, Aperture 2.1 includes the Apple-developed plug-in, Dodge & Burn, which adds brush-based tools for dodge (lighten), burn (darken), contrast, saturation, sharpen and blur. Over the coming months, third party software developers will deliver image editing plug-ins for localized editing, filters and effects, noise analysis and reduction, fisheye lens correction and more.
