Apple Has Released iTunes 7.1.1

iTunesApple has released a 7.1.1 update for iTunes. According to notes provided with the update, iTunes 7.1.1 addresses a stability issue and minor compatibility problems in iTunes 7.1.

Released March 5, iTunes 7.1 added additional support for the upcoming release of Apple TV, which is due out this month. The update also added support for a new full screen Cover Flow and improved sorting options to let you decide how iTunes should sort your favorite artists, albums and songs. The update is available via the software update mechanism in Mac OS X.

Apple Unleashes Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iPhoto 6.06

OS XApple today released Mac OS X 10.4.9, available in both client and server versions for PowerPC and Intel-based Macs. The updates are available for download through the Software Update system preference pane, and can also be had from the Apple Downloads Web page. This will probably be the last of the updates for the Tiger version of OS X. Next up for Mac users is OS 10.5 Leopard. Apple has not yet announced a ship date. Going by the Developer Previews I have seen, I would guess by June.

So far I updated one of my PowerBooks without any issues. But to be sure it is always a good practice to always backup, before applying these updates.

iTunes and QuickTime Updated

iTunesApple has released updates for iTunes and QuickTime. iTunes 7.1 has added a preference to support for the soon to be released Apple TV coming later this month. This update also supports a new full screen Cover Flow and improved sorting options to let you decide how iTunes should sort your favorite artists, albums, and songs.

QuickTime 7.1.5 delivers numerous bug fixes and addresses critical security issues, according to notes provided with the update. Both iTunes 7.1 and QuickTime 7.1.5 are available via the software update in Mac OS X or from Apple’s Web site.

Apple To Hold Special Event at NAB

AppleApple will hold a special event at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) trade show on Sunday, April 15. Apple has used such events in the past to launch significant product releases. Although Apple has not given any details, many expect Final Cut Studio 6 might make its way in to the light.

Apple will also have a large booth at the show, which is typically the first booth attendees see as they enter the South Hall. NAB 2007 runs from April 14 – 19.
